An easy boxed cake mix hack
Darn Good Chocolate Cake
Normally I try to limit how much sugar we eat around here, but lately the boy has been complaining that we never get dessert anymore (or at least any dessert that he likes! lol)
Enter this Darn Good Chocolate Cake. It's super easy, using a boxed chocolate cake mix and some add-ins that I nearly always have on hand. To step it up a notch, I also add in 1 1/2 cups of chocolate chips. Admittedly, that seems like a lot, but come on - it's chocolate. Can you ever really have too much?
I use 1/2 cup of warm water and I bake it in a bundt pan for 50-60 minutes, or until a wooden toothpick inserted in the centre comes out clean. My favourite "frosting" is 1/2 cup chocolate chips melted with 1 tbsp butter and spread over top, more of a glaze than a frosting.
Since we're entertaining company for supper tonight, it seemed like a perfect night to resurrect this delicious recipe.
Serving suggestions
We like this cake with a side of fresh berries and ice cream or whipped cream.
